KAPIC

I spent a week at a Japanese language and culture seminar in the middle of nowhere on the OTHER (Osumi) peninsula. There was a lake and river (brook) there that were perfect for swimming in (also known as loosing my footing on the rocks). The lake was filthy but I swam in it anyway, intentionally. There were bikes to explore on and a library with English books! During the morning language classes and afternoon cultural activities I greatly expanded my Japanese language skills (“Let’s go shopping!”) and surprisingly found a love for Ikebana (flower arranging). I can also see now, as I type, that I am mastering run on sentences, let’s say I picked that up at KAPIC too. I even got to use my newfound Japanese at work the week after when I turned to the lovely music teacher and said, “Kaikimasho!”, and shopping we did go! (As a result of that ill-fated trip to the music store, I think I might be performing in a school show, but who knows, I never really know what’s going on until it’s happening.)

There was also a museum at KAPIC that had all sorts of beautiful outfits and musical instruments from around Asia. So, I got to play dress up and hit the thing with the other thing to make sounds. It was a fun and interesting week.

My flower arrangement.

My favorite is the Korean outfit lovely Zoe is modeling up front.

I have no idea what to put for a caption here, regardless; I hope you enjoy this elephant picture.
