The End of Winter

Winter here has been short and warm(er than usual). I hate global warming (does anyone like it?), but with the lack of central heating coupled with an uninsulated house, I'm pretty happy about the weather. Nobody here believes I'm really from Canada... I walk around most of the time in my long big jacket with my scarf, touque and gloves on. The classrooms aren't heated for the most part and it appears to be the fad to OPEN windows during the winter here, so it's pretty freakin cold most of the time. I do have to mention, however, that the kids are still in their shorts and skirts. So I should shut up.

It snowed once and it was beautiful. The hills were all dusty white and that morning had that special kind of quiet you only get when it snows. The best thing about the cold is that it keeps away the bugs and spiders.

I'd been thinking a lot about the idea of staying here another year for the past few months. I had to hand in my recontracting form so a decision had to be made. Long story (very long story including many sleepless nights, pro/con lists coming out my ears, and various 5/10 year plans) short, I have decided to stay another year.
